What if you could meet face to face, in the same room and discuss an important issue, and be able to exchange details and documents, talk about changes, benefits of one model over another, and not actually be in the same room?

As a young business executive, I used to log from 250,000 to as much as 500,000 air miles per year, just to be in the same room so that I could have a "face to face" conversation, be able to discuss issues, "one on one", draft and exchange documents, and arrive on a mutual course of action. I did this as a single participant, and I did these travel meetings with various members of my staff.

At other times I traveled to demonstrate a product. Having the product in hand and having the client have the product in hand, we would train the client to use the product.

I also traveled to remote sites with my training team to conduct specific training on a topic. I can't even begin to list the various reasons for my past business travel, but they were many.

Imagine how much money, air miles, exhaustion, taxi fees, travel expenses, and away from family issues could be saved or avoided through a really good Video Conferencing web based package, which would make over 90% of that business travel unnecessary?

Admittedly, we will never be able to avoid all business travel, since such visits to a subsidiary organization to show the face of the Corporate CEO cannot be replaced completely. Buckle up, Tonto the Lone Ranger says that Video Conferencing is here, and, as a current user and the past collector of air mile awards, (the main disadvantage), I agree. This amazing technology has arrived and it will benefit any business, local, small or large.

I just want to tell you a story. Tonight, my wife and i went out to dinner in our very small town of Anacortess, Washington. We had a stressful week, and we needed a break, so I got out my new iphone and selected safari, and googled our favorite upscale restaurant. To my surprise, I was directed to a very nice mobile website for this restaurant, and easy directions to call for a reservation.

He answered that he did it himself and that it was a LOT OF WORK.

I then asked him if he used SMS or any push advertising, and he saaid, what is that? I told him, and he said.......come talk to me next week, as we had dinner on a friday evening.

It pays to just talk, right?

Notice that the next technique that i listed above is the mobile website. There are currently more mobile phone buyers searching the internet for goods and services than there are people searching with loptops and desktop computers. If your website is not mobile friendly, you are a looser.

It is necessary to have a fully optimized small business, or local business website. mose of your SEO juice will be derived from this site. The primary consideration here, is not if it is pretty, or awesome, it is: DO SEARCHES FIND THE WEBSITE? If the website is not found, it is just trash, and a waste of the money invested to build it.

I am in the process of optimizing our website, http://localwebhits.com for the keyword string business advertising. Using Rank checker, that string is currently number 44. In the subdomain, http://edmonton.localwebhits.com, the keyword string, edmonton advertising is currently in the number 74 spot. A week ago it was in the number 196 position. I am using a veretekk platinum system to enable the migration from totally not seen to page one of Google. I also use article writing, blogging and videos in the process, which is automated by the veretekk system. I am working on business advertising for the localwebhits URL and Edmonton Advertising for the edmonton subdomain.

Youtube and Small Business Advertising

There are some rules that need to be followed to do proper onpage YouTube optimization. First, your keyword needs to be in the title of the YouTube video. Secondly, in the video description you should start out with the URL to your website that you are trying to optimize. You should have a good description of the business and lastly, you should put a link to the video itself. The reason for this is that many people scrape utube for urls and your video will be picked up in the scrape.

Now, it is important that you post this YouTube video on other video sites, but with a major exception to the description. Do not use your website URL in the Description. Use only the URL of the YouTube video. Google loves having links from other video sites pointing to YouTube!

Finally, you write up this process as I am doing here and go to your Veretekk Platinum system and post it to your Bully pulpit.

Get the embed code of the video and make several freepages, each of which has a different keyword string in the title and post those. Then take those to your Veretekk Blogger and write articles about these posts as well.

In my last post I discussed a process whereby you could increase the Page Rank of your YouTube Channel. I mentioned in that post that I had been told that to increase the page rank of your YouTube channel that you needed to do Google searches for comments on YouTube videos and then to comment on them while you were logged in to your YouTube Channel.

I have been doing some research on the new YouTube Channels, and I have discovered a very interesting claim. The Claim is that it is possible to build a PR 4 or 5 YouTube Channel site in 6 to 8 weeks. Further, the process described is fairly simple and involves 15 to 30 minutes a day, 3 days per week, for 3 weeks.

How to Build a High Page Rank YouTube Channel

Here is the process. Set up a YouTube Channel, say it is Small Business. The url of that channel would be http://youtube.com/user/smallbusiness. Now, if that channel is not available, do not fret just ad a number after it.

Now, upload 4 or 5 videos to that channel which have been properly configured videos with keywords that you have optimized your Small Business website for, and a description which includes your site URL, and a succinct statement about your business. Next, go to a Google search and in settings turn off local search, set the number of searches for 100. Use firefox and turn on SEOQuake. Search for: "small business" "channel comments" site:youtube.com/user. Now with SEO Quake on, scroll down the 100 results and pick 5 PR 5 or PR6 video channels to comment on. Watch the video and do a non spammy good comment. Be sure that you are logged into your channel account.

Do this search 3 days per week, commenting on 5 PR 4, 5, or 6 videos a day. Continue this process for 3 weeks and then forget about it. This is what I am being told and i will be back in 4 to 6 weeks to report to you my results.

Now, assuming that you get the ranking, what next? Upload your client videos to that channel and make it a favorite. Maybe get a Veretekk Gold account and get your videos posted on their high PR accounts?

• Blog promotion

Blog promotion works the same way as Article promotion, including the reference to kicking it up a notch. We will be discussing which blogs to use a little later, but for now do what you are comfortable and write origonal content every day just as you did for the articles.

• Video promotion

Each of these processes are similar, however in the videos you have the ability to Create the title, use keyword tags and have a video description. The title must always contain the keyword that you are promoting. The description should contain the specific URL that you are promoting. If you are a local or small business the description should also contain your businss name, address, and phone number.

Post these videos at various video posting sites, including YouTube, which Google owns. Post the same video with Alternate titles and meta description as many times as you have unique metadata to post. Spiders can read the metadata, not the video.

Now, when writing articles, blogs or making videos, or any web content, link to these pictures. This ads a lot more backlinks to your effort.

The last several posts have been mostly focused on getting your Google Places listing optimized for Google. Since that is only part of being noticed on page one of Google and only a small part of overall traffic generation to your small business, I want to spend some time on Search Engine Optimization.

On Page Local Business Optimization

Like Google Places, it all starts with On Page Optimization, but here the On Page is on your website, which you would like to appear on page one of a Local Search Engine. These are the things that you do to your website to help get search engine recognition. Once you have done your research you need to do the following:
• Put the main keywords in the Title Tag
• Keywords in the meta keyword description
• Write a human description of your business starting with the URL and using the main keyword and any secondary keywords only once
• Construct separate pages on your website for each keyword string that you are going to promote, each of which is hyperlinked to all of the other web pages with keyword specific hyperlinks.

Research for your local business website This is where it all starts. You need to do research in order to find out how people are trying to find your local business niche. What keywords are they using? What keywords is your competition optimizing for? How competitive are these keywords or keyword strings?

Google Keyword Tool

The Google keyword tool is free and it can be found by doing a Google search for Google Keyword Tool. It is located at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. Type in your prime niche word or words and see what the global and local volumes. If you are trying to optimize a website to compete worldwide, (Globally), focus on the global volumes. If you have a local small business and are trying to compete in a constrained geographical area, use the local volumes.

Once you have isolated a group of keyword strings, each of which having sufficient volumes to be useful for bringing you traffic, we need to take a look at the competitive nature of these keywords. The first tool that I like to use is the Google search tool, http://google.com. In this too type intitle:"keyword". This will tell you how many competing websites are already optimized for that Keyword string. As a general rule of thumb, I would not suggest going after keywords that have in excess of 50,000 competitions.

Local Search Toolkit

If you are doing research for local business domination for a small business in a confined geographic location, use this tool. I am not going into detail about it in this article.

Market Samurai

To get some very sophisticated assistance on both keyword selection and Market competition, this is definitely a tool that you should purchase. Again, it is not within the scope of this article to delve into how to operate it. Their training videos are extremely useful.

Off Page Optimization for your Small Business Advertising efforts

This process of Off Page Optimization is a process of promoting each keyword string, and the page on your website that has been created for it. It is extremely tempting to try to directly promote the root website for all keywords, but it is definitely not the most productive.

How do I promote a site or a keyword for a site?

There are many ways to do keyword promotion for a specific page on a specific website. A few of these follow:
• Article promotion
• Blog promotion
• Video promotion
• News releases
• Pictures

Google Places Categories

In the Google Places setup, you need to select a Category from the Google Drop Down list for the first category. This is mandatory for good optimization. Then once that is done you may create 4 more categories. Too many words will get you bad rankings over time. Currently local testing and local wisdom says to use the 2334 rule, 2 word, then 3 words then 3 words, then r words. So for Dentist office you may pick the Dentist category, which is in the Google drop down box. Then attempt to maximize relevant keywords within the above formula to provide a large potential categories list.

A set of categories might be:

Dentist
Sedation Dentist
Teeth whitening Dentist
Veneers dental clinic
Dental implants denture service

The most important criteria about categories, is that they must represent Who, not what you do! It is also important never to use the city in a category.

Google Places Description for a small business.

The description is limited to 200 characters and you need to use as many as you can, without keyword stuffing. Mention the city only once. Do not use any category words. Use the main keyword only once. Try to make this sound very normal and make something that you would not be embarrassed to have on your business card. If your main keyword is also a category, use other words that when used with that word will increase chances for searches and or use words that refer to the same niche. This way you will not be penalized by Google for stuffing. It is important to never use a Post Office box for an address.

Create an email address specifically for the listing that contains your main keyword. Keyword@gmail.com.

Additional Details

This section of the Google places setup is for creating dozens of more keyword hyperlinks.

Examples

Go to my Dentist Facebook Profile, (hyperlink). Create hyperlinks to all of your citation sites, review sites, picture sites, video sites etc, all of which are remotely located on other websites which you do or do not control and some of which are authority sites.

You should make good use of these options, using Keyword type hyperlinks as we discussed above.

It is important to have multiple articles posted at well visited websites which contain your citation and a link to your website.

Now that Google has decided to circumvent users of the organic results with their own proprietary Google Places Listings, it is important to learn about them so that you can join the game as well. It is very discouraging to spend hundreds of hours promoting a site to page one, number 1 or any number from 1 to 10 for that matter, to see Google place another set of listings above yours. They already place their paid advertising leads there. It is quite possible that Google Plus might enter into this mêlée as well?

Join Them

Learn how to set up a Google places Page properly and then dominate both the places listings as well as the Organic listings. There are multiple components of onpage SEO for Google places. For Google Places, onpage optimization is everything that you do ON the Google places page. Off Page optimization is everything that you do off of the Google Places page.

OnPage Optimization

There are two Critical factors here, promotion of Citations and Categories. First, what are citations? Citations are places on the internet which mention the name of your company, the address of your company and the company phone number.

These do not have to be hyperlinks, and they act as if they were backlinks to a site.

Second, Categories are the Directory Listings that search engines would like to see similar businesses placed in.

The name of the game is keyword, citation category game.

To play the game to win, you must produce a swarm of links to keywords, websites, citations, categories, pictures, videos, articles, directories, and reviews. In other words we take advantage of all of the tools that Google allows us on the Google Places page. We put up the maximum amount of allowed pictures and we use alt tags for keywords, and categories to point to our website, our videos, our directories containing citations, or ads containing citations, blogs which may contain our citations, forums and, do you see where I am going with this?

Conclusion

Take advantage of all of the content forms allowed by Google to do on page optimization of your Google places page. If you do this and if you do your off page optimization correctly you will defeat Google and have both the Places positions and the Organic positions on page one covered.

Now, I ask you, if you are wanting to purchase a new mega wide screen TV, and you are in your car with a mobile phone, trying to find a location to purchase one and a website for a retail TV store opens on your mobile phone and you can only see a tiny part of the website without both horizontal and vertical scrolling, are you going to stay on that site to try to find the street address? I wouldn't, I want my providers to make life ease for me and provide that information in mobile format, complete with a click to call button!

Local Business Online Advertising and the Need for Citations in Local SEO

Local Business SEO is all about getting the Places slots on page one of a SERP. These are extremely important, as at least on Google, they appear ahead, or above the organic listings. They are so important, that they can replace the need to obtain great page one organic listings, saving lots of time and money.

Citations are defined as “mentions” of your business name and address on other web pages. These "mentions" are important to the search engines even if there is no link to your website. Mention of your business address and name in a classified ad are also citations.

Online yellow pages directory where your business is listed would also be a form of a citation. Citations also arise from a local chamber of commerce, or a local business association where your business information can be found, even if they are not linking to your website. “Web references” is a synonym for “citations”. Citations are a key component of the ranking algorithms of the major search engines. Other factors being equal, businesses with a greater number of citations will probably rank higher than businesses with fewer citations. This is important, as you want your website to be in the top 10 places, so that it appears ON the page, not as a continuation of the Places websites.

As I have written before, it is important to be very careful to insure that the very same, or EXACT business contact information is used uniformly across all citation sites. It is also important, that you first get your search engine places pages in place before you start building the citations.

One note of caution, there are several black hat software programs that will do this kind of work for you, making it possible to do them all in a few seconds or minutes. Don't even think about it. In this article I want to bring forward two simple tools that you can use to get a start on local business advertising and marketing keyword analysis. Below, I have assembled a status of where the SEO is at the current time for the Crazyfoxes small business online advertising and marketing website.

This illustration is by no means meant to be a tutorial on the subject of keyword selection, there will be more on that in later posts. To get the Global and Local volumes I use the Google Keyword tool, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

The Competition was obtained in each case by going to the Google search engine and typing, intitle:"Keyword String", into the search field and reading the number of competing websites that have that phrase in the title tag of the webpage. "M" stands for Million and K stands for thousand.

As you can imagine, it would take a very long time to get the Keyword string, "business Marketing", without the quotes, to page one of a Google search, it having a competition of 5 million sites! Business Advertising with 1.7 million competition is also an awesome competitive string. You might ask, then, why is this site already at 50? Well, when we started to promote this site over a year ago, it did not even show, as, "business advertising" is not even now showing.

The SERP ranking of 50 is primarily because of all the effort that has already gone into promoting the keyword strings that are already on page one of the SERP; online business advertising(5), small business online advertising(2), small business online advertising(7), small business advertising(10) and the promotion of other long tail keyword strings such as small business internet advertising(16) which are not yet on page one.

The general strategy that I use when starting to promote a new site is to do enough keyword research to find longtail kayword strings some of which are listed above, with lower search volumes, but low or no competition. This will bring you some early hits, and at the same time start building up your high competition, high volume keyword strings, as has happened here.

Notice, that the string, small business internet advertising, only has a SERP rank of 16, even though there are only 5000 competing pages. That is because that string went unnoticed in the early stages and was not promoted. It will get some promotion in this article, see if you can find it.

I touched on this issue in a prior blog, but now I would like to stress just how important this is. If, for instance you are using Google as the Search tool for searching for businesses, you are aware that Google likes to place its Google Places locations ABOVE the organic listings. What do you think would happen if you were using the Bing Search engine, or the Yahoo engine?

Each of the search engines are trying very hard to deliver valid pertinent search results, so each of them are testing your business name, address, phone number, email address and whatever else is pertinent to insuring that the page(s) that they deliver to your Search Engine Results Page (SERP) are relevant to the search query.

If you are sloppy and abbreviate some or use multiple phone numbers or email addresses, or leave out City or State or Provence information, the credibility of your business is at risk in the eyes of the search engine algorithms and you may not rise above the organic listings, or if you do, you may not place in the first 10 of the places returns. All local business advertisers should be trying to get their listings, not only on the first 10, but above the fold in that category.

Beginning Series On Client Small Business Advertising SEO

I am starting a series of articles on the process to get your small business advertising or local business advertising clients page to page one of a SERP, Search engine results page.

The very first thing to do with the Clients Small or local business marketing website is to check the content for duplicate content. There is no point in working with a client who has simply borrowed content from other people's websites. Duplicate content can cause keyword search results to be listed in "other results". There are times, however, when your Clients site may be ending up in the "other search results, category", because others have borrowed snippets of your clients code for descriptions, or title tags, or other content, and Google mistakenly thinks that those snippets are the original content, and downgrades your clients page to the secondary search results because of that.

In this event, the best course of action is to have your client rewrite their content, to insure that it is all fresh and original. Then recache the client's webpage. You can do this by pinging the page at pingler.com and pinggoat.com. Check from time to time to see that it has been cached. A second way is to post links on high traffic sites such as blogs and forums, that are getting fresh content every day. Spiders, out of necessity, usually live on those sites, and if that site has "do follow" links, your clients site will get indexed, creating a new cache.

Adding your link to websiteoutlook.com, will insure that your site gets indexed promptly as well. Finally, adding your link to bookmarking or aggregator sites will assist getting your clients local business site indexed as spiders frequent these sites frequently.

Local Business ON-Page SEO

The next most important aspect of on-page optimization is to complete the following checklist.

Have a principal keyword for this page
If the keyword is not in the domain, insure that it is in the URL
Make sure that the Title contains the keyword
Insure that there are H1, H2, H3 tags with the keyword
Put the keyword into the first sentence
Put the keyword into the last sentence
Make the keyword density more than 2%
Place an image on the page with an alt tag containing the keyword
Make the content 500 words or longer
Use bold, italic and underline for the keywords

It will not do you much good if you do not properly prepare a page for upward mobility to page one of a SERP, ands no end of back links may do the job on a poorly prepared page. The elimination of duplicate content and strict attention to the above checklist factors are critical. Perhaps, even more critical are paying attention on how to optimize the following three factors:

This is how fast visitors click the page on a SERP. The factor that you control that influences this the most is the Meta Description. You want to make this as attractive as you can, so that no matter where you may be listed on a SERP page, you will be clicked first. Copywriting skills are great here as you need to remove worry, provide reliable on spot information, provide promising information, and give the impression that this site has the answer to my search question. Also a good place for the site URL in many cases, and the keyword phrase needs to be in the description up front at least once.

The Headline must grab the person mentally by solving a problem that the reader has, or presenting a viable solution ho their problem. Color of the Heading is also important and red is the best, or variations of red. Bold also helps.
